Simply cutting through the huge list of established acts, building a fan base, and branching out from a hometown can take years, and often needs persistence, luck and a whole lot of talent. Fortunately, Catchpenny has proven to have plenty of each.

From headlining shows from Los Angeles to Chicago, to setting record attendance numbers at venues like the Hard Rock Cafe, to having their music used for national tv spots by ESPN and Arizona Jeans, Catchpenny’s resume reads like a band that has been together for half a decade, not a band that played it’s first gig less than two years ago

Their first album, “Chance for a Lifetime”, produced by Michael Bland, was recorded in 8 days and released in December 2005 to critical acclaim. "Soaring, contemporary vocal melodies cut through a dense web of melodic guitars and keyboards, this brotherly harmony sung with big, earnest voices defies their youth while their songs effortlessly embrace it. The new album is a huge step forward. The guys had an entire year to work on the material before heading into the studio and it shows. Exciting things are on the horizon in the near future, but the most exciting thing on their mind is letting an audience hear the new tracks! With that said, Catchpenny is heading off on the "Fresh Air" tour. Backed by the new beverage company Airforce Nutri Soda, Catchpenny will be heading out across the midwest playing college campuses along the way. Individually, each band member is no stranger to the stage. As a group POP ROCKS members enjoy a dynamic, high-powered chemistry that can only come from time spent playing together. The fun they have on stage is as infectious as their playlist of HIT POP TUNES.

Female vocalist Mandy Lane has been starring in film and stage productions since early childhood and is one of the official anthem singers for the Minnesota Wild and the Minnesota Twins.

Jason "Buzz" Swanson, on bass and vocals, currently does double duty playing in POP ROCKS and original funk/jazz quartet, Chill 7.

Billy Wesp, drums, has been playing professionally on the Minneapolis club scene for the last 15 years, most notably with the band "Touched" who played frequent opening slots for national acts the likes of: Blue Oyster Cult, Kansas, Vince Neil and Dream Theater.

Like Billy, guitarist Dave Gorman has toured nationally with Mad Atchu, Spank, Little Green Men and most recently with local favorite Lemon Trophy.

Marc Kass, keyboards, performs nationally with cover band Bad Habits including a regular gig at the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame.

On vocals and guitar, frontman Chad Ryan, is a former MCA recording artist and was one of the original members of the disco band Boogie Wonderland.
