Hayward Chapter Annual Event
Hayward, WI is the home of the Original Fishing Has No boundaries event, which was held on the Chippewa Flowage in 1988. Twenety seven years later the Hayward Chapter still has their event at the Lake Chippewa Campground on the Chippewa Flowage. This two day event hosts anywhere from 120-150 participants plus volunteers for the unique experience that once was only a dream to some
Always held on the third weekend of July, the Honor the Earth Pow-wow is attended every year by nearly 10,000 people from the U.S., Canada, and other countries. The story of Honor The Earth is basically one of people standing up for their rights, and a humbling beginning by a small number of LCO people who wanted a better future for their tribe and people. We must not forget the many sacrifices that were made on our behalf by our relatives before us. We must give thanks for our many blessings and show honor and respect to our Mother Earth, not just today but throughout our lifetime. Traditional Native American music, dancing, crafts and food create an authentic tribal experience and are enjoyed by thousands of people each year who join each other in celebration as their relatives did for hundreds of years previously.
Today, the Honor the Earth Pow-wow is the largest Pow-wow in North America. Highlights of the Pow-wow include a youth royalty pageant, four grand entries, a veterans recognition ceremony, social singing and dancing, a traditional arts cooking contest, and softball and golf tournaments.
The thunder of chainsaws, the quick feet of log rollers, the brute strength of sawyers and choppers plus the amazing agility and speed of the pole climbers will not allow your heart to stop pounding throughout this amazing world championship event! The Lumberjack World Championships® is recognized as the premiere timber sporting event in the nation where lumberjacks and lumberjills from around the world including the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand compete for the gold. Each year in mid-September, thousands of fat tired fliers descend on the towns of Cable and Hayward in northwestern Wisconsin to take on the off-road bicycle tests of endurance and agility offered during the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival weekend. Since its inception in 1983, the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival has built a popularity and reputation that is unmatched in the sport today. From the 27 hardy cyclists who lined up to challenge the unknown trails of the Chequamegon in the first year, to the sold out limited field of 2,500 who are chosen by a random lottery, the Festival has earned the title of the "Nation's Most Popular Off Road Bicycle Adventure."
