The Seeley Hills Classic is the second-largest annual classic cross-country ski event on the Birkebeiner Trail. The 42K race is sanctioned by the US Ski & Snowboard and is an American Birkebeiner qualifying race. The marathon race also connects some of the biggest cross-country ski events across the region, as the Seeley Hills Classic is the first of six races in the CXC Marathon Cup series.
UPDATE, JANUARY 8TH: After not receiving the forecasted snow yesterday and enduring a day of drizzle, it has been decided that the 2019 Seeley Hills Classic will be moved to the Birkie Start stadium.
The former 42k race will start as scheduled at 10 AM and ski south to Timber Trail. At this point, they will turn and ski back to the start passing through the stadium for a second lap. The total distance will be 30k.
The former 22k will start at 10:15 and ski the same course but only one lap for a distance of 15k. The HS. and Middle School races will start at 10:30 also at the Birkie start.
Friday registration and bib pick up will be from 5 to 9 at the Sawmill Saloon in Seeley. However Saturday morning from 8 to 9:30 registration and bib pick up will be at the Great Hall at the Birkie start venue.

Race Updates: Due to inclement weather the start of the Hayward Lions Club Pre-Birkie has been moved to 11:00a.m. The race this year will Start and Finish at OO in efforts to conserve snow on the southern part of the trail.
This Lions Club Fundraiser and FUN race has no equal when it comes to preparing one mentally and physically for the American Birkebeiner. In other words, once you have completed the Pre-Birkie you will have the confidence to take on the mother of all XC marathon races, the American Birkebeiner.
And, if 26 Kms of those beautiful hills were not enough, …back by popular demand are the 42Km skate/classic races. There are four food stations on the 26km course and six on the 42km course, which are manned by local youth groups who are eager to serve you along your way to the finish at OO. There you’ll find refreshments and our famous doughnuts.
Every skier will receive a special Pre-Birkie sweatshirt and all skiers who pre-register prior to Jan 15 will get their sweatshirt at the spaghetti feed/late registration or on race day late registration at the VFW. Come and enjoy the day with the Hayward Lions at our Pre-Birkie the “Best Birkie prep race in the Midwest”.

The largest community festival in Hayward is proud to celebrate 70 years of great fishing tradition, family, fun, and the beautiful Wisconsin Northwoods.
The festival weekend kicks off with something for the whole family: a carnival and children's games, sidewalk sales, a large handmade art & craft show, live music, and mouth-watering food booths! The celebration continues with a catch & release fishing contest, fishing photo contest, and large street dances featuring Midwest known music groups on Friday and Saturday nights. The whole weekend concludes on Sunday with a 5K run/walk, a 10K run, as well as a kid's Minnow Run for those 12 and younger, and finally the Grand Parade in historic downtown Hayward.

Launched in 2017, riders gathered at the start in one of the Midwest's most popular vacation destination towns of Hayward, Wisconsin to embark on an adventure route through the northern Wisconsin forests to the historic fishing village of Bayfield, Wisconsin.
The ride will start in Hayward, Cable or Drummond depending on your ride route and wind along 100, 80 or 60 miles of scenic, paved Wisconsin back-country roads, several river crossings, and traverses the Continental Divide. To enthusiastic off-road bicyclists from across the country, the annual trek to the Chequamegon Mountain Bike Festival presented by Trek means fat tire racing and fat tire fun. Each year in mid-September, thousands of mountain bikers descend on the towns of Cable and Hayward in northwestern Wisconsin to take on the off-road bicycle tests of endurance and agility offered throughout the weekend.
