The finest athletes in the world compete annually in the Lumberjack World Championships, American Birkebeiner cross country ski marathon, and the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival mountain bike race. Join us for the Hayward Area Chamber of Commerce Musky Festival, Hayward’s largest community event every June, or celebrate the beautiful culture and tradition of the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe at the Honor the Earth Powwow.

    During the Covid-19 pandemic, racers will experience a more physically distanced start area, less congestion on course, and separate race times for the 22K and 42K races. No indoor spaces will be available and there will be no post-race party. However, there will be epic skiing on the Birkie Trail- and the course will start and finish in Seeley at OO!

    The Seeley Hills Classic is the second-largest annual classic cross-country ski event on the Birkebeiner Trail. The 42K race is an American Birkebeiner qualifying race.

    Event has been postponed from 2/13/2021 due to extreme cold weather temperatures.

    This Lions Club Fundraiser and FUN race has no equal when it comes to preparing one mentally and physically for the American Birkebeiner. In other words, once you have completed the Pre-Birkie you will have the confidence to take on the mother of all XC marathon races, the American Birkebeiner.

    The race will start and end at Birkie Ridge Trail Head, north of Seeley on Hwy 63.  The short course will go to OO and back, and the long course will go to Gravel Pit Road and back.  Skiers will be able to start on a staggered, socially-distanced basis.

    Every skier will receive a special Pre-Birkie sweatshirt. Come and enjoy the day with the Hayward Lions at our Pre-Birkie the “Best Birkie prep race in the Midwest”.

    The 2021 event has been canceled due to ongoing COVID concerns.

    This is the “Granddaddy” of all the FHNB events. Hayward, WI is the home of the very first Fishing Has No Boundaries event, which was held in 1988 on the Chippewa Flowage. Thirty years later, the Hayward Chapter continues to hold their event at the Lake Chippewa Campground on the Chippewa Flowage.

    This two day event hosts anywhere from 120-140 participants plus volunteers for the unique fishing experience that once was only a dream to some. All participants will receive a unique fishing experience on a boat or pontoon. Awards and prizes are given throughout the weekend.

    The largest community festival in Hayward is proud to celebrate 70 years of great fishing tradition, family, fun, and the beautiful Wisconsin Northwoods.

    The festival weekend kicks off with something for the whole family: a carnival and children's games, sidewalk sales, a large handmade art & craft show, live music, and mouth-watering food booths! The celebration continues with a catch & release fishing contest, fishing photo contest, and large street dances featuring Midwest known music groups on Friday and Saturday nights. The whole weekend concludes on Sunday with a 5K run/walk, a 10K run, as well as a kid's Minnow  Run for those 12 and younger, and finally the Grand Parade in historic downtown Hayward.

    The 2021 Firehouse 50 event will be held in a social setting due to Covid19 and road construction. The Social Firehouse 50 bicycle ride will begin at 10 AM on Sunday, August 1, traversing the 33-mile Great Divide Ride route, which uses portions of Highway D, Pioneer Road, Lake Owen Drive, and Highway 63 between Drummond and Grand View. The social ride will depart from the pavilion next to the Grand View Fire Hall. A community picnic will be held Sunday afternoon at the Grand View Town Park with music, food & beer from noon - 4pm.

    To enthusiastic off-road bicyclists from across the country, the annual trek to the Chequamegon Mountain Bike Festival presented by Trek means fat tire racing and fat tire fun. Each year in mid-September, thousands of mountain bikers descend on the towns of Cable and Hayward in northwestern Wisconsin to take on the off-road bicycle tests of endurance and agility offered throughout the weekend.

    The Birkie Trail Run Festival will start & finish at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead, in Cable, WI!  The nine events will traverse the rolling hills and twists & turns of the famous Birkie Trail, as well as single-track sections of the CAMBA trail system.  You’ll see beautiful vistas from atop Mt. Telemark, run by crisp cool waters, all amidst the beautiful forests of northwest Wisconsin.  The Birkie Trail Run Festival has a friendly north woods vibe, awesome Vendor Fair, a finish-line party with hot lunch, cold Earth Rider craft beer, root beer, on-site camping, bonfires, and much more.  Make it a weekend of fun with family and friends!  If you love to run on a great trail in the midst of nature, this is the event to put on your calendar NOW.     Stone Lake hosts over 30,000 guests on this day of festivities and fun. Our volunteer festival staff will be ready to serve you by taking care of all the details of the event.  The cranberry marshes will be ready once again to show off their operations for they have much to boast about.  On the first Saturday in October Over 300 vendors, artisans, crafters, food and hospitality areas will be ready to take good care of you.
