Cable Natural History Museum
The Cable Natural History Museum is a nationally accredited museum and community hub that
connects people to Northwoods nature through educational experiences that inspire wonder,
discovery, and responsibility. Our summer naturalist internship program is a training ground for
young leaders, educators, and scientists who want to share their passion for nature.
Naturalist Interns gain hands-on experience while working closely with our staff of experienced
naturalists and museum professionals. Interns take the lead in planning and presenting a variety
of programs for youth and adults including the Junior Naturalist series and Wild Wonders
Summer Camp. They also contribute to the diverse array of projects involved with running a
small non-profit museum. As part of their training, the Naturalist Interns will become certified
Wisconsin Master Naturalist Volunteers.
Start Date: Tuesday, June 2, 2026
End Date: Saturday, August 15, 2026 (exact dates are flexible)
Hours: 40 hours/week
June 2 – 5 (Tuesday through Friday) training week;
June 8-13 (Monday through Saturday) Master Naturalist training;
Beginning June 16, Tuesdays through Saturdays
8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with occasional evening events
Compensation: $290/week; housing provided
The Jackson Burke Staff House is 10 miles east of Cable on Lake
Namakagon. Housing includes private bedroom/bathroom, shared
living spaces, laundry, Wi-Fi, and all utilities.
